The Remote Revenue Cycle Call Center Representative – Self Pay manages a portfolio of patient accounts within Excalibur’s client partners’ Self Pay, Self-Pay After Insurance, and/or Payment Plan Accounts Receivable. This role is responsible for resolving patient balances efficiently, compliantly, and with a strong focus on delivering a positive, patient-centered experience, while supporting overall financial performance.

This position also handles inbound calls related to both call center operations and assigned account follow-up. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and accuracy, balancing efficiency with a high-quality patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound patient calls in a professional, empathetic, and efficient manner
  • Respond to inbound inquiries from insurance carriers, attorneys, and other non–self-pay parties
  • Manage assigned account inventory through timely and accurate account activity updates within Excalibur or client systems
  • Meet or exceed daily productivity targets, including patient and guarantor account touches
  • Establish payment plans in accordance with client guidelines
  • Secure full and partial payments from patients following established protocols
  • Perform account research and resolve balances related to self-pay, financial assistance programs (FAP), and insurance inquiries
  • Accurately document all patient interactions within client and/or Excalibur systems
  • Conduct initial screenings for financial assistance program eligibility per client requirements

Requirements

  • Strong patient-focused customer service skills with a high level of empathy
  • Ability to multitask across multiple systems with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare privacy standards
  • Ability to build rapport with patients, leadership, and team members
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to collaboration
  • Interest in and passion for the healthcare industry
