An opportunity has arisen for an additional person to join a small team providing support for a sweet and happy 35 year old, living in her own home.

She has Down Syndrome and limited speech but understands others, can follow instruction well and is independent in many tasks. The role does not involve any personal care, only support and encouragement to ensure she is able to take care of herself.

She loves animals, music, art, jigsaw puzzles and movies, but gets quite anxious about going out so most of the work will take place in her home in central Brighton.

Her support is person centred and managed by her loving family to give her a happy and fulfilled life.

The Geoghan Household is looking for a support worker who is kind, compassionate and patient. They need to have good communication skills and be able to read facial cues and not rush her when she is trying to communicate with her, as once you get to know her, she can by quite chatty but is often shy to begin with.

The job will involve spending quality time with her as well as shopping, cooking meals, washing up, some light cleaning and giving medications.

Training will be given so no experience is necessary, The Geoghan Household is more interested in finding the right personality match for her to build a lasting relationship with her support workers.

Working Hours and Pay

Job Type: Part Time – Permanent.

Expected hours: 15-20 hours per week.

Salary: £13 per hour weekdays, £14.00 per hour weekends.

Available shift are Friday 2.30-7.30, Saturday 2.30-7.30 and either Sunday or Monday 9.30-2.30.

Shift swaps and cover shifts often available so flexibility would be an advantage.
