The Position
The Commissioning and Support Specialist provides support, training and deployment of broadcast software to operational engineering teams worldwide. This role ensures the smooth operation and support of broadcast software within an agile development environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide global support via Slack, Jira, and other systems, including on-call shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve outages
- Create and update training docs, tutorials, and troubleshooting procedures
- Monitor and report on the performance of production deployments providing updates as necessary
- Collaborate with Broadcast Engineers on control systems, technical workflows, and signal flow in OB and IP facilities
- Ensure infrastructure security and contribute to risk mitigation
- Train staff and monitor industry trends for new ideas
- Oversee software deployments, including design, commissioning, and training
- Provide technical support and ensure SLA targets are met
- Create and maintain Jira tickets for product management and troubleshoot code/process issues
- Develop automation scripts and support disaster recovery systems
Requirements
- 6+ years in a broadcast production environment
- Familiarity with SMPTE-2110 and advanced broadcast control systems (e.g., Magnum, VSM, Orbit, Cerebrum, TFC – desired)
- Technical or associate degree in computer science or electronics (or equivalent experience)
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP or Arista ACE-L2 certification (desired)
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, multicast protocols
- Experience with Golang, JavaScript, Python, Bash scripting, or other programming language (a plus)
- Experience with virtualized and/or containerized computing (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong communication, problem solving, and time management skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
