The Role

As Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will play a central role in sourcing, client engagement, and export operations.

The role involves working directly with the Director to expand the supplier network with authorised UK dealers and ensure a seamless purchasing experience for private clients in the UK and Hong Kong.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source luxury goods (watches, fashion, accessories) from authorised UK dealers of premier brands, negotiating allocation, pricing, and authentication arrangements
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with UK supplier accounts, including direct liaison with brand boutiques and authorised reseller networks
  • Manage bespoke client orders from initial enquiry through to delivery, ensuring product specifications, authenticity documentation, and delivery timelines are met
  • Liaise with private clients in the UK and Hong Kong to understand purchasing preferences, advise on product availability, and provide a discreet, high-touch concierge service
  • Oversee export logistics and documentation, including HMRC compliance, customs declarations, VAT retail export procedures, and coordination with freight forwarders
  • Maintain accurate sales, purchase, and client records in line with company policy and trade compliance requirements
  • Monitor luxury market trends, brand release calendars, and pricing fluctuations to inform sourcing strategy
  • Ensure compliance with UK trade and export regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) obligations, and HMRC requirements applicable to high-value goods

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of the luxury goods industry, including watches and high-end fashion
  • Demonstrable understanding of Chinese consumer trends and preferences in the luxury sector
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese (essential for liaising with Hong Kong and UK-based Chinese clientele, and for sourcing conversations with brand representatives serving Chinese markets)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple supplier and client relationships simultaneously

Desirable

  • Prior experience in luxury retail, e-commerce, cross-border trade, or a related client-facing commercial role
  • Familiarity with UK export documentation, VAT retail export schemes, and HMRC compliance for high-value goods
  • Established network within UK authorised dealer or boutique channels
