Job Summary
Kensington House Publishing Ltd is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Editor to join its established editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK’s leading illustrated non-fiction publishers, producing books that inspire, entertain, and inform readers across genres including food & drink, lifestyle, craft, and popular culture.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing standout titles from concept to publication, working closely with authors, designers, and marketing teams to bring exceptional books to market.
Key Duties

Edit and oversee books from initial concept through to finished product.

Manage backlist titles and develop original content.

Prepare cover briefs, write cover copy, and check proofs.

Copywrite and review sales and marketing materials (catalogues, presentations).

Research and prepare pitch presentations, liaising with designers.

Carry out full desk editorial responsibilities including copy editing, proofreading, copywriting, and writing design briefs for both print and digital formats.
Requirements

Proven experience in editing, journalism, or related fields with a strong portfolio of published work.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.

Proficiency in word processing programs such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Strong skills in copywriting, creative writing, proofreading, and proposal writing.

Ability to perform accurate fact-checking under tight deadlines.

Knowledge of journalistic standards and ethical considerations in publishing.

Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

A degree or qualification in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.
