About the Role
The Project Manager will manage and deliver service-wide projects that support the Trust’s objectives, focusing on patient care and operational process improvements. The role sits within the NHS Resilience Emergency Capabilities Unit (ECU), responsible for national-level capabilities such as:

Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART)

Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA) response
-
Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) response

Mass Casualties (MC)
-
Ambulance Command & Control (C2)
This position provides the opportunity to lead high-impact projects that enhance patient care and improve operational efficiency across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and deliver projects to enhance patient care and operational processes
-
Apply project controls using PRINCE2 or AgilePM methodologies
-
Manage project configuration, quality control, change and risk management, and stakeholder communications
-
Plan, monitor, and report on projects using advanced tools (e.g., Gantt charts, project management software)
-
Analyse complex information and prepare reports for senior management
-
Ensure outputs meet quality standards and compliance requirements
-
Support and guide project teams, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and present complex information to diverse audiences
-
Manage project budgets, procurement, and resources
-
Maintain high standards of information management, confidentiality, and data protection
-
Contribute to policy development and service improvement initiatives
-
Uphold Trust values, including caring, respect, teamwork, safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and sustainability
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
-
Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent theoretical knowledge
-
Theoretical and practical knowledge of process improvement methodologies

Knowledge of PRINCE2 and internal organisational policies and procedures

Understanding of Lean Thinking methodology and relevant techniques
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferably with working knowledge of Microsoft Project

Clear communication skills with all levels of staff and external contacts
-
Ability to handle commercially sensitive information

Analytical skills to interpret project events affecting schedule, cost, or quality
Desirable
-
PRINCE2 Practitioner certification
-
Experience in CBRN or equivalent areas

Experience in interoperable capabilities for the Ambulance Service
About NHS Resilience Emergency Capabilities Unit (ECU)
The NHS ECU, hosted by London Ambulance Service and commissioned by NHS England, is a national centre of excellence for emergency preparedness, resilience, and response. Formerly the National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU), it strengthens national resilience by supporting ambulance trusts and NHS partners with capabilities, training, and coordination to respond to high-risk incidents anywhere in England.
The unit focuses on delivering patient care and improved clinical outcomes in challenging environments, supporting major and complex incidents defined in the UK’s National Risk Register.
