Wellbrook Medical Centre is recruiting a motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Operational Manager following the promotion of the current post-holder. This is a senior and highly responsible management role within a busy but friendly GP practice.

The Operational Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational running of the practice, working on behalf of the Practice Manager and GP Partners. The role includes providing operational leadership, managing staff, and ensuring efficient systems and processes across the practice.

The successful candidate will also provide essential support to the Practice Manager and deputise during periods of absence. Line management responsibility for the data and administration team forms a key part of this role, alongside close collaboration with the Reception Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as deputy to the Practice Manager when required

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Five GCSEs/O Levels (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English Language at Grade C or above

  • Demonstrable numeracy skills with the ability to manage complex financial tasks

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Excellent IT and word-processing skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to manage, interpret, and present data in reports and spreadsheets

  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Professional and assertive handling of conflict situations

  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and teamwork skills

  • High levels of resilience and flexibility

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

Desirable Experience and Attributes

  • Management or supervisory experience

  • TPP SystmOne experience, including reporting
