Job Summary

The Capital, Estates and Facilities Directorate at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking qualified Senior Project Managers with experience in healthcare project management.

The post-holder will work on challenging capital projects within the Capital Planning and Development Team, collaborating with project managers, engineering managers, clerks of works, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager will support the Capital Programme Manager and Estates Officers in delivering capital projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering complex multi-disciplinary capital projects.

  • Collaborating with the Capital Planning and Development Team to achieve Trust objectives.

  • Providing expertise in procurement of construction, refurbishment, and consultancy services.

  • Managing external building contractors and advisory consultants.

  • Overseeing projects across the full lifecycle from planning to commissioning.

  • Reporting project progress and performance to senior management.

  • Ensuring compliance with NHS Estates Capital Investment Manual, Health Technical Memoranda, and Health Building Notes.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • First degree or equivalent.

  • Postgraduate certificate or CPD in specialised project management (e.g., PRINCE2).

Desirable:

  • Continuous professional development in healthcare project management.

Experience

  • NHS or healthcare project management experience.

  • Experience managing capital and construction projects in complex acute hospitals.
