Science Fair Foundation BC is a registered charity serving communities across BC and the Yukon. Our focus and passion is supporting youth in their exploration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) through local and regional science fairs. As our Digital Office Administrative Assistant – Summer Intern, you will help us showcase the amazing work of youth from across BC and the Yukon, and support our team in developing resources and tools to expand access and participation of science fairs to youth in every corner of our province.
Position Overview
The Digital Office Administrative Assistant – Summer Position will work with the SFF BC staff, volunteers and contractors to support, organize, execute and promote S.T.E.M. programs for youth across BC and the Yukon. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, organizational and time management skills with a passion for science and innovation. As part of a small team, this role will include a variety of tasks including program administration, community outreach, volunteer and stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and database management. The role requires someone who excels at administration and communication, who takes ownership of and has pride in their work. Candidates must have the ability to work remotely.

Position: Digital Office Administrative Assistant – Summer Position
Position Type: Part-Time
Reports to: Program and Volunteer Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Research, collect and organize information related to science education, project-based learning, and science fair logistics and management
- Provide support in defining and documenting project goals, timelines, and milestones
- Assist in the design and development of promotional materials
- Assist in the development of science fair guides, resources, and media packages for various stakeholder groups
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the organization
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends when required
- Additional tasks as required
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Minimum of two years working in a professional setting
- Minimum of two years graphic design experience
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively work and communicate (written and verbal) independently, digitally, and as part of a team
- Collaborates easily with colleagues to create positive and productive working relationships
- Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines with limited direction
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Science fair experience is considered a strong asset, particularly at the regional or national level
Other Requirements:
- Successful applicant must be able to work remotely, including a functional microphone/headset, computer/laptop and high-speed, reliable internet
- Successful applicant may be required to pass a Criminal Record Check: Vulnerable Sector
Eligibility:
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. To be eligible for this position, you must:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age on the first date of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and registration
Position Details:
- This is a temporary part-time position beginning June 1, 2026, and ending August 28, 2026
- Expected hours of work are 30 hours per week with a pay rate of $22 per hour
- This is a remote position
